Ithaca, NY — GrammaTech, Inc., a leading maker of tools that improve and accelerate software development, today announced that CodeSonar, the company’s flagship static analysis product, has been certified for use in the development of safety-critical software according to several international standards: ISO 26262, IEC 61508 and EN 50128. These three standards were designed to define the functional safety of electronics throughout their lifecycle within automotive systems, medical devices, and railway applications, respectively. CodeSonar has now been independently audited by SGS TÜV Saar GmbH and subsequently awarded a certificate confirming it is approved for developing software for these safety standards.
Functional safety standards such as ISO 26262, IEC 61508, and EN 50128 reflect the increasing use of tools during software development and the growing reliance on standards to ensure the quality and safety of code. CodeSonar was certified by TÜV SÜD Saar GmbH, who analyzed how its functionality and development processes conformed to the requirements of these standards.
“CodeSonar’s certification assures customers they can trust the tool to help them through the certification process by correctly analyzing their software to find many different kinds of safety-critical defects,” said Paul Anderson, GrammaTech Vice President of Engineering. “CodeSonar is the static analysis choice for safety-critical systems, where software quality not only reduces the risk of loss of life or serious injury, but also significantly reduces development costs, accelerates debugging, and limits legal liability.”
