GrammaTech, and T.E.N., the founder of the Information Security Executive (ISE) of the Year Awards, have recently announced a new award category, the Product Security Executive (PSE) of the Year. This annual competition recognizes individuals whose contributions have delivered advancements in security for commercial software products to protect them from cyber threats.
Why a New Category?
An ever-growing number of devices are smart and connected including medical devices, automobiles, industrial controls and more. They already number in the billions, and each one is at risk to cyberattacks since threat actors are taking advantage of every opportunity to exploit product security vulnerabilities. As a result, demand for product security has grown across multiple industries, especially consumer electronics, automotive and healthcare.
This increased emphasis on maintaining product safety and security is becoming the responsibility of executives who are effectively a “Product Security Executive” whether or not the title exists. GrammaTech has partnered with T.E.N. to create this award competition to recognize the men and women on the front lines of this new discipline, honor their accomplishments, and share their best practices with the industry.
Awards
Winners in multiple award categories will be announced at the ISE West Summit and Awards event on December 1, 2022 in Dallas, Texas, and at https://www.embedded.com/, media partner of the Awards.
The Product Security Executive of the Year Award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated outstanding leadership in the field of product security in the past 24 months. Presented to a chief security officer (or an executive in an equivalent position), this award honors exemplary achievement and excellence in leadership, innovation, responsibility, goal alignment, partnerships, and vision within their company/organization and in the industry as a whole.
Eligibility
U.S.-based executives, including those with director, vice president, chief product security officer, or similar titles, who are responsible for product security management are eligible for consideration. This includes individuals overseeing security at all stages of the product development lifecycle for software, firmware, and/or embedded code, as well as secure product design, risk and vulnerability management, and standards/regulatory compliance. There is no cost to enter.
An executive nominee must have held his/her current role or position for at least 12 months. Exceptions may be made for executives who have had continuous involvement and influence in the organization’s security strategy, but have recently been promoted or had their role expanded within the same organization.
